As a Junior Personal Assistant, you are responsible for organising schedules and appointments, booking and arranging travel, transport and accommodation, and providing administrative support. Your role is an integral part of the business ensuring that your manager makes the best use of their time by dealing with administrative tasks and providing general assistance.

With this 3-unit short course, you can be equipped with the skills and knowledge required to perform various administrative support tasks including writing simple documents, designing and producing text documents, and organising schedules.

We provide you with four (4) months to complete this course. How long it actually takes will be reflective of the time you are able to dedicate to your studies.

This course could be completed within 10 – 15 hours of study per unit. It may take you less time, it may take you more. That is why we give you four (4) months and all the support you need. The rest is up to you!

BSBADM307 Organise schedules

Upon successful completion of this unit, you will:

  • appropriately manage the schedules of various individuals through a process of careful planning and negotiation
Demonstrate knowledge of:
  • key provisions of relevant legislation, standards and codes that affect aspects of business operations or the achievement of team goals
  • organisational requirements for managing appointments for personnel within the organisation
  • range of appointment systems that could be used
  • important considerations when managing the schedules of others

BSBWRT301 Write simple documents

Upon successful completion of this unit, you will:

  • plan, draft and finalise three different simple documents that accurately convey the required basic information in a format suitable for the intended audience and in accordance with organisational policies and procedures for document production

Demonstrate knowledge of:

  • the process for checking basic grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • different communication methods
  • how audience, purpose and method of communication influence the tone of a document

BSBITU306 Design and produce business documents

Upon successful completion of this unit, you will:

  • select appropriate technology and software for design and production of business documents
  • adhere to organisational requirements when:
    • selecting layout and style
    • opening and generating files
    • producing documents within designated timelines
    • naming and storing documents
    • printing and presenting documents
  • adhere to task requirements when producing documents including:
    • applying basic design principles
    • applying consistent formatting
    • using appropriate styles
    • using correct layouts
    • proofreading as required
  • use appropriate data storage options
  • apply knowledge of functions and features of contemporary computer applications
  • print and present completed documents

Demonstrate knowledge of:

  • appropriate technology for production requirements
  • functions and features of contemporary computer applications
  • organisational policies, plans and procedures
  • organisational requirements for document design e.g. style guide

You will be assessed for these units of competency using a variety of tasks to assess your understanding and skills. A virtual session means you will be one on one with your assessor either answering questions or taking part in a role play, just as you would do in any classroom, only we do it online.

All of our assessments are marked by your assessor within ten (10) working days following the day you submitted your work. You have three (3) attempts for each task to achieve a competency result, with your assessor giving you detailed feedback following each submission.

Requirements

There are no formal requirements. However, learners will need:
  • Sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course
  • Basic computer skills
    • Knowledge of common computing terms and word processing
    • Proficiency with web browser software and sending/receiving e-mail including e-mail with attachment
    • Familiarity with navigating the Internet
  • To meet technical requirements
