Trade Contractors Licence

If you are overseeing plumbing and drainage, gas fitting, pest control or fire protection work, then Queensland Building and construction Commission (QBCC) requires you to have a Trade Contractors Licence.

If you are an employee, you need a licence if you are responsible for:

  • Overseeing and directing the building work.
  • Ensuring the work is of a competent standard, i.e. free of defects.

To get a trade contractor or nominee supervisor licence, you must complete an approved managerial qualification. The approved managerial qualification is:

  • BSBSMB401 Establish legal and risk management requirements of small business

Queensland QBP for Electrical Contractor Licence

According to the requirements of the Electrical Safety Office (ESO), each electrical contractor licence must have at least one Qualified Business Person (QBP).

There are several approved courses which form part of the requirements of a Contractor Licence. Here at AOT, we can offer you one of those:

Successful completion of this course will not only allow you to meet the requirements of the business knowledge and experience requirements to be granted a Trade Contractor’s Licence, you will also be issued with a Statement of Attainment in partial completion of the BSB42515 Certificate IV in Small Business Management.

BSBADM307 Organise schedules

Upon successful completion of this unit, you will:

  • appropriately manage the schedules of various individuals through a process of careful planning and negotiation
Demonstrate knowledge of:
  • key provisions of relevant legislation, standards and codes that affect aspects of business operations or the achievement of team goals
  • organisational requirements for managing appointments for personnel within the organisation
  • range of appointment systems that could be used
  • important considerations when managing the schedules of others


There are no formal requirements. However, learners will need:
  • Sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course
  • Basic computer skills
    • Knowledge of common computing terms and word processing
    • Proficiency with web browser software and sending/receiving e-mail including e-mail with attachment
    • Familiarity with navigating the Internet
  • To meet technical requirements
