Elearning TestimonialsReal Life StoriesPeople from many different backgrounds, with very different situations, and a huge range of skills levels, enjoy AOT’s flexible world of learning. Here are a few comments from learners who have benefited greatly from AOT’s support, and we hope they inspire you. Mary Joy Bowman - KlennerAs a student who is 50+, and loves music, partying and socialising. My husband and I run a Karaoke business in Brisbane; we have been doing this for many years. Study was never my forte, at the start of my course I felt that I would have difficulty, but after phoning the trainers for help, they certainly assisted in every way possible. Completing my course has helped me understand how to assist my Husband in his business. I now do all his paperwork, quotes, invoicing, I have even created a new business letter head. I now know how to prepare a spreadsheet, which I had never done before, not to mention scanning a photo and sending it. Judy ClarkFor the past 26 years I’ve been running the office for an engineering supply business, and although it more or less ran smoothly, I knew that it could be better organised, but I had no idea how to go about it. My first thought was that at the age of 50 I was too old to try something like online learning. Add to that my lack of formal education (- I failed grade 10), I dismissed the whole idea. Five months down the track I still agonise over sending in my answers, but I do it anyway. I have to say, this is the best thing I have done since getting married and raising our children. I now have a much better understanding of how to run the office and, yes, it is running much more efficiently. Lorraine SorensenI live in a small country town, so I have always found it difficult to study as the closest training facility is miles away. Then I found out about online learning with AOT; I felt it was the most convenient study option for me. I did not have a full time job because I wanted to stay at home and raise my two children. Online training gave me the opportunity to study as well as look after the children. I have now successfully completed my Certificate II in Business administration and almost immediately I was employed as a mature aged trainee in administration with my local council. This was a huge achievement for me, as I have not been in employment for the past twelve years. Mark ElshawI have been involved in the disability field for 12 years and have held many varying positions in this area, from working in respite care, today disability services, aged care (with intellectual disabilities) and six years of teaching Special Needs in a mainstream Catholic High School. |
