Congratulations on taking the first steps towards your career advancement. If you’ve already decided on what course to take, that’s great! We’re excited for you. If you’re still unsure, let us help you understand more about our course levels.
The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) is the policy for regulated qualifications in the Australian education and training system. Here at AOT, we have nationally recognised courses from AQF levels Certificate II to Diploma level.
So what’s the difference?
How do you know what course level is suitable for you?
To determine this, you need to think about your work experience and where you are currently at in your career. Are you just starting out, looking for jobs or wanting to learn new skills to get you that first job in business? If that’s a yes, then the Certificate II may be most suitable. E.g. BSB20115 Certificate II in Business
If you are carrying out tasks under a supervisor and are confident with your basic skills, then the Certificate III qualification is a suitable choice. This level is also ideal for people who have been out of the workforce for a long time and need to retrain and update their knowledge and skills or are considering a change in career or industry. E.g. BSB30415 Certificate III in Business Administration
Maybe you’re already a team leader or employed in a supervisor level position. In that case, our Certificate IV courses can help you advance your skills and knowledge further. E.g. BSB40515 Certificate IV in Business Administration
If you’re a professional who aims for management positions, then our Diploma level courses can help you gain the skills for advancing to management roles. E.g. BSB50415 Diploma of Business Administration
You will also consider whether you want to gain the qualification for the skills you already have or push yourself to learn new skills and advance to the next level. View the units in each course to find out what will be covered.
Have you heard about Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?
If you have prior work experience (paid or unpaid), past study or formal/informal training, you may use these to fast track your qualification. The RPL process will be discussed further and clarified with you in the RPL interview with your trainer after you are an enrolled student. The course price will not change.
How about Credit Transfers?
If you have a Certificate or Statement of Attainment that shows you have completed a unit and a unit with the same code appears in the course you’re enrolled in at AOT, you can apply for a credit transfer. It is the recognition of equivalence between a previously obtained unit of competency and a unit that you are wishing to obtain. Please reply to this email for more information.
Take the time to think about where you are at in your career now, so you can make an informed decision on which course to study to continue on your chosen career path.
