To finish off this qualification you will cover HR functions, WHS and project management.

Learn how to support HR functions and processes to improve your organisation and respond to changes in the market, government legislation, stakeholder and management requirements.

In your HR role will mostly like have WHS responsibilities so you must know how to provide WHS information, implement training, monitor organisational procedures and legal requirements.

You will also be involved in project work, this applies not only to HR but to any project. Gain the skills and knowledge to develop a project plan, administer and monitor a project, finalise it and then identify lessons learned.

BSBHRM417 Support human resources functions and processes

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to support work across a range of human resource functional areas.

The unit applies to individuals who require a broad understanding of human resource functions, associated policy frameworks and the administrative requirements to support these functions and policies.

Upon successful completion of this unit, you will:
  • on at least two occasions, support key human resource functions and/or processes for an organisation or work area.

BSBWHS411 Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to implement and monitor an organisation’s work health and safety (WHS) policies, procedures and programs in the relevant work area in order to meet legislative requirements.

The unit applies to those with supervisory responsibilities in a work area who have a broad knowledge of WHS policies and contribute well-developed skills in creating solutions to problems through analysis and evaluation of information from a variety of sources. They provide supervision and guidance to others and have limited responsibility for the output of others.

  1. Provide information to work team about WHS policies and procedures
  2. Implement and monitor work team consultative arrangements for managing WHS
  3. Implement and monitor organisational procedures for providing WHS training to work team
  4. Implement and monitor organisational procedures and legal requirements for identifying hazards, and assessing and controlling risks
  5. Implement and monitor organisational procedures for maintaining WHS records
Upon successful completion of this unit, you will:
  • Implement and monitor the work health and safety (WHS) policies, procedures and programs for one work area in an organisation.
In the course of the above, you must: 
  • Explain relevant WHS information clearly and accurately to work team 
  • Provide work team with access to WHS policies, procedures and programs in appropriate structure and language 
  • Implement and monitor procedures, according to WHS legislative and organisational requirements, for:
    • Consultation on and communication about WHS hazards and risks
    • WHS training needs and learning opportunities
    • WHS records 
    • Using WHS aggregate data relating to hazards and risk control.

BSBPMG430 Undertake project work

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to undertake a minor project or a section of a larger project. It covers developing a project plan, administering and monitoring the project, finalising the project and reviewing the project to identify lessons learned for application to future projects.

The unit applies to individuals who play a significant role in ensuring a project meets timelines, quality standards, budgetary limits and other requirements set for the project.

  1. Establish project parameters
  2. Develop project plan
  3. Administer and monitor project
  4. Finalise and review project
Upon successful completion of this unit, you will:
  • Undertake project work on a minor project or a section of a larger project.
In the course of the above, you must:
  • Confirm the quality of project outcomes according to expectations of the organisation
  • Consult and communicate with relevant stakeholders to generate input and engagement in planning, implementing and reviewing the project
  • Provide support to team members to enable them to achieve deliverables and to transition them as appropriate at completion of the project.
Nominal hours = 60

You will be assessed for these units of competency using a variety of tasks to assess your understanding and skills. A virtual session means you will be one on one with your assessor either answering questions or taking part in a role play, just as you would do in any classroom, only we do it online.

All of our assessments are marked by your assessor within ten (10) working days following the day you submitted your work. You have three (3) attempts for each assessment task to achieve a satisfactory outcome (100% pass mark), with your assessor giving you detailed feedback following each submission.

There are no formal requirements. However, learners will need:
  • Sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course
  • Basic computer skills
    • Knowledge of common computing terms and word processing

    • Familiarity with navigating the Internet

  • Be at least 18 years old or have completed Year 12 if enrolling in a Diploma
