This short course is the fourth and final stage of the BSB30120 Certificate III in Business.

We live in a digital day and age where you will often need to collaborate and communicate with colleagues who are not present in the same location. This has been made easier than ever to do with digital technology. Learn to undertake a basic review of organisational processes to identify opportunities for using digital technologies to complete work tasks more efficiently and effectively.

Using information technology is essential in effective written communication, where applications are used to communicate information faster, easier and cheaper, and connect with people from all over the world. This course will also teach you to plan complex documents, draft text, prepare final text and produce the final document.

In business, you will also need to develop and maintain effective work relationships and networks. In this course, you will gain the skills and knowledge required to develop and maintain business networks, establish and maintain business relationships, and promote the networking relationship.

Successful completion of the three units of competency for this short course outlined below will earn you a Statement of Attainment in partial completion of the BSB30120 Certificate III in Business. If you have completed Stages 1, 2 and 3 you will also be issued with the BSB30120 Certificate III in Business qualification.

BSBTEC404 Use digital technologies to collaborate in a work environment

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to understand the fundamentals of using digital technologies to collaborate in a workplace context, including working as part of a remote team. It involves undertaking a basic review of organisational processes to identify opportunities for using digital technologies to complete work tasks more efficiently and effectively.

The unit applies to those who use problem-solving skills and take responsibility for adopting and promoting approaches to improve organisational operations, particularly relating to the use of digital technologies.

Upon successful completion of this unit, you will:
  • plan and implement use of digital technology to collaborate in a work environment at least once.
In the course of the above, you must:
  • review business use of technology for collaboration and identify opportunities, priorities and risks associated with adopting new technologies according to organisational strategies
  • collect, analyse and present relevant information about digital applications
  • create and present a business case to relevant stakeholders for adopting new collaborative digital technologies
  • develop and communicate a plan to implement new ways of working collaboratively using digital technologies.

BSBTWK401 Build and maintain business relationships

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to establish, develop and maintain effective work relationships and networks through relationship building and negotiation skills required by workers. These workers may be within an organisation as well as freelance or contract workers.

The unit applies to individuals with a broad knowledge of networking and negotiation who contribute to creating solutions to unpredictable problems. They may have responsibility for and provide guidance to others.

Upon successful completion of this unit, you will communicate with others to build and maintain at least two different business relationships.

In the course of the above, you must:

BSBWRT411 Write complex documents

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to plan, draft and finalise complex documents.

The unit applies to individuals who work in a range of business environments and are skilled in the creation of documents that are more complex than basic correspondence, memos and/or forms and that require review and analysis of a range of information sources.

Upon successful completion of this unit, you will:
  • Plan, draft and finalise three different complex documents that convey the required information in a format suitable for the intended audience and purpose according to organisational policies and procedures for document production.
In the course of the above, the candidate must:
  • Review and analyse a range of information sources
  • Use business technology to apply formatting and incorporate graphics
  • Apply organisation style guide/house style.

You will be assessed for these units of competency using a variety of tasks to assess your understanding and skills. A virtual session means you will be one on one with your assessor either answering questions or taking part in a role play, just as you would do in any classroom, only we do it online.

All of our assessments are marked by your assessor within ten (10) working days following the day you submitted your work. You have three (3) attempts for each assessment task to achieve a satisfactory outcome (100% pass mark), with your assessor giving you detailed feedback following each submission.

In the units list, you will see the government’s nominal hours for each unit, which are their anticipated number of study hours. Our students usually find that their actual study hours are less than this.

There are no formal requirements. However, learners will need:
  • Sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course
  • Basic computer skills
    • Knowledge of common computing terms and word processing
    • Proficiency with web browser software and sending/receiving e-mail including e-mail with attachment
    • Familiarity with navigating the Internet
  • Meet technology requirements
  • Be at least 18 years old or have completed Year 12 if enrolling in a Diploma
