To run a successful business, you will need strong skills and knowledge in financial matters. This short course will provide you with solid knowledge and skills in this area, from planning your business to managing it.

In the planning phase, this includes conducting break-even analyses, costing for the business, including margin or mark-up, charge-out rates and unit costs and setting profit targets and methods for analysing working capital cycles.

In the managing phase, this includes producing financial projections, cash flow estimates, key indicators for financial performance, managing business assets and financial capital and monitoring the financial performance of the business and make changes to strategy as required.

To maximise your sales and profits, you also need a good marketing plan. In this short course, you will learn to develop and implement a marketing strategy to improve the performance of your business venture. This involves analysing and interpreting market data.

Upon successful completion of the short course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment in partial completion of the BSB40320 Certificate IV in Entrepreneurship and New Business.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to identify financial requirements of a business, including profit targets, cash flow projections and strategies to garner financial support.

The unit applies to those establishing a business providing self-employment, as well as those establishing a new venture as part of a larger organisation.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to implement and review financial management strategies, including by using new and emerging digital technologies and interpreting financial reports and other numerical data.

The unit applies to those establishing a business providing self-employment, as well as those establishing a new venture as part of a larger organisation.

Upon successful completion of this unit, you will implement a financial strategy for at least one business or new business venture according to business plan and goals. In the course of the above, you must:
  • Adhere to legal requirements
  • Produce financial projections, including cash flow estimates
  • Develop a plan to negotiate and manage business assets and financial capital
  • Define strategies for debt collection and contingencies for debtors
  • Manage cash flow
  • Define key indicators for financial performance
  • Communicate with required people
  • Seek specialist services, where required
  • Monitor the financial performance of the business and make changes to strategy as required
  • Identify opportunities to implement new and emerging digital technologies to support the financial management of the business.
Nominal hours = 60

You will be assessed for these units of competency using a variety of tasks to assess your understanding and skills. A virtual session means you will be one on one with your assessor either answering questions or taking part in a role play, just as you would do in any classroom, only we do it online.

All of our assessments are marked by your assessor within ten (10) working days following the day you submitted your work. You have three (3) attempts for each assessment task to achieve a satisfactory outcome (100% pass mark), with your assessor giving you detailed feedback following each submission.
