The tools and methodologies you will learn in this short course will increase your value as a project team member. You will learn to contribute to the control of a project’s scope, assist with project scheduling activities, and enhance project outcomes by contributing to quality planning.

This project coordinator core skills short course consists of 3 units of study which are the core units of the BSB41515 Certificate IV in Project Management Practice. This means once you have successfully completed this short course you only have to complete 6 more units to complete the BSB41515 Certificate IV in Project Management Practice qualification.

This course covers project scope, time and quality management techniques.

We provide you with four (4) months to complete the course. There is no minimum timeframe for completion.

The course is self-paced so the hours of study vary from student to student and are influenced by many factors including the amount of time you are able to dedicate to your studies. That is why we give you four (4) months and all the support you need. The rest is up to you!

BSBPMG409 Apply project scope management techniques

Upon successful completion of this unit, you will:

  • contribute to delineating and controlling project scope
  • record project scope management plan
  • interpret and follow project initiation documentation for purposes of documenting project scope

Demonstrate knowledge of:

  • components of a project scope management plan
  • factors likely to impact project scope
  • formal change-control processes
  • methods for measuring work outcomes and progress against plans
  • methods for segmenting and documenting a work breakdown structure
  • procedures for reporting a change in scope
  • types of project initiation documentation

BSBPMG410 Apply project time management techniques

Upon successful completion of this unit, you will:

  • create a project schedule showing tasks, deliverable milestones, sequence, dependencies and time estimates
  • apply time-management techniques in a project
  • use tools and techniques to maintain, monitor and update a project schedule

Demonstrate knowledge of:

  • implications of time management for project resources, costs and risks
  • methods for estimating task duration and resource requirements
  • tools and techniques for managing project time and their particular applications
  • techniques used to measure, record and report progress of activities

BSBPMG411 Apply project quality management techniques

Upon successful completion of this unit, you will:

  • work in a team environment to plan and develop quality management and continuous improvement parameters
  • apply quality management techniques in a project relevant to the organisation and industry context
  • maintain accurate quality records
  • contribute to project continuous improvement process

Demonstrate knowledge of:

  • implementation of quality-assurance processes and requirements
  • implementation of quality-control processes and requirements
  • quality criteria relevant to industry
  • application of quality management tools and methodologies relevant to industry and organisation
  • explain quality standards and their place in the project life cycle

You will be assessed for these units of competency using a variety of tasks to assess your understanding and skills. A virtual session means you will be one on one with your assessor either answering questions or taking part in a role play, just as you would do in any classroom, only we do it online.

All of our assessments are marked by your assessor within ten (10) working days following the day you submitted your work. You have three (3) attempts for each task to achieve a competency result, with your assessor giving you detailed feedback following each submission.

    • Knowledge of common computing terms and word processing
    • Proficiency with web browser software and sending/receiving e-mail including e-mail with attachment
